ALL-STAR GAME IN ALMAGUIN
The GMHL Annual All-Star Game was hosted by your Almaguin Spartans this past Tuesday. The event featured the North Division All-Stars against the South Division All-Stars, showing off some of the league's top end talent. Team North won the game 9:8 final.
The players were treated to a wonderful meal catered by the South River Figure Skating club prior to the game.
The on -ice events started off with a skills competition. The league's best were pitted against each other in four competitions including: fastest skater, shooting accuracy, shootout competition and a relay race. All events were tight between the teams but the South narrowly came away with the Skills title.
The game was fast, hard and an elite level of play. Team North had a dominating lead going into the third period with a 8-4 lead, but the South battled back to make the final 9-8.
It was a wonderful event from start to finish, helping build the Spartans' name around the league and bringing over 300+ fans into the South River arena.
