Tough Battle in Seguin

The Almaguin Spartans had their five game win streak snapped shockingly by the Seguin Huskies this past week. It was a shocking upset but was much needed reality check for the powerhouse Spartans, who had to cruising with a five game win streak.

The 3:2 match in favour of the Huskies was an even match with both teams playing strong hockey.

It was a penalty filled affair that served as an uphill battle for the Spartans. After two periods, Almaguin found themselves in a 2:0 deficit. The Spartans battle back to tie the game up 2:2 but with less than two minutes to go in the match, a heartbreaking goal from Seguin spoiled the comeback.

Scoring for the Spartans included Gabriel Sbop and Alex Whitehair.

Despite the loss Almaguin still sits third in the GMHL's North Division. They will look to get back to their winning ways this Thursday in Ville-Marie on the road. The Spartans have had good games against the Pirates and will be the third time they square up this season.

ROSTER NOTES:
The Almaguin Spartans are very happy to announce the addition of (96) goaltender Nick Kent from the East Coast Minutemen of the NA3HL. Nick has played the past two seasons at the Junior level in the United States in the NA3HL and the EHL Elite. Nick has great lateral movement, reads the play well and has a great work ethic. The Spartans feel that Nick provides them with another top quality goaltender. Nick's addition to the team resulted in a surplus of quality of goaltenders, so the Spartans were forced to make a trade and in doing so moved goaltender Adam Panzarella to the Wiarton Rock for future considerations. The Spartans wish Adam the best of luck with his new club.
Welcome #1 Nick Kent to the Spartans!!!
