Roster Shakeup in Almaguin

The Almaguin Spartans have shuffled the roster after a disappointing stretch through late October.  After last night, the club has 1 win in their last 4 matches following a shocking 9:4 defeat in Temiscaming.

As mentioned, veteran General Manager David Forde and his staff made some changes to the roster in attempt to turn things around. Leaving the club is '96 D Isak Carlen who was traded to the West Nipissing Lynx. Coming in is F Shane Stillwell acquired in a trade with the Seguin Huskies. Stillwell is a defensive forward that can play reliable minutes for the Spartans in all areas of the ice.

A second trade earlier last week say Russell Cup Champion forward Ralfs Circenis from the North York Renegades. Ralfs is a highly skilled forward who was put up 45 points in 40 GMHL games and won a league championship with the Niagara Whalers last year where he contributed 8 points in 12 playoff games during the Whalers championship run.

Also joining the club is '99 F John Pardee. The free agent signee was with the now defunct Wiarton Schooners earlier this season.

Matthew Labrosse continues to lead the Spartans with an impressive 45 points and 27 goals through the first 15 games of the season. Right behind him sit Britton Whitehead with 35 points and Ty Hannaford with 29 points.

The Spartans are hoping for another positive turning point this Sunday in Fergus playing the Force.
